The Wallet Girl![]() MYSPACE Amber: For those who don't know you, Tell them a little bit about yourself, and how you got started. The Wallet Girl: My names Keaton, my claim to fame is being The Wallet Girl. I make clear duct tape wallets for people, and bands. I started when I saw a wallet sized picture of Panic At The Disco in a Boston newspaper, and everyone thought it was cool, so I kept making them, and eventually started a little business. I've made over 500 wallets for bands like the All American Rejects, to people that order custom wallets off myspace. Amber: What is the process like for making these wallets? The Wallet Girl: Well first I am sent 3 pictures which I resize on the computer, and then I print them out, and wrap them up in clear duct tape. The wallets have a regular money pocket, a condom pocket (but if you're not into that, they're great for guitar picks), and 2 pockets for credit cards. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to make a wallet. Amber: The first wallet you made, which band was it for? The Wallet Girl: It was for me! I wanted to get Brendon Urie to sign it and he did. I was the happiest girl in the world. Amber: How do the bands usually react when you give them a wallet? The Wallet Girl: They're like "DUDE! This is so fucking rad! You made this?!" and then they hug me. Amber: Do you think you will be making wallets for years to come? Or is it a more for now thing? The Wallet Girl: I don't know. I always hoped it would lead me to brighter things, which it has. This whole wallet thing has lead me to become a part of my music scene, I am currently interning at a local record company, Red Blue Records, and it has defiantly shown me that I want to live a lifestyle in the music world. I mean I think it’s something that I'll probably grow out of, or move on from, but being the wallet girl is something that will always kind of define me. This is a tricky question because I don't really have a definite answer. I just have to see what the future holds. Look at Paul Frank, he started out making wallets, and now he still is, but he's doing a lot more that just being the guy with the cool wallets. Amber: How much do the wallets usually cost? The Wallet Girl: Well it all depends on how many you buy. The Wallet Girl: If you buy 1 to 5 they're $8 each. The Wallet Girl: 6 to 50 they're $6 dollars each. The Wallet Girl: 51- 99, $5 each. The Wallet Girl: 100 + $4 each. The Wallet Girl: but I like to barter and trade. Amber: When you’re not making wallets, what else do you like to do? The Wallet Girl: I love going to shows, hanging out with my friends, walking around Boston, shopping, talking to interesting people, and listening to music. Amber: Where can people go to look at your wallets, and where could they order? The Wallet Girl: WELL, I would say The Wallet Girl.com, BUT I totally have had some domain name issues very recently, so myspace.com/The Wallet Girl or freewebs.com/The Wallet Girl. Myspace is the best because were all on that like its nobodies business. Amber: Any last words for readers, and fans of you? The Wallet Girl: Haahah fans. Creativity and originality are worth so much these days. Value it. Cherish it. Find it. Never lose it. And never compromise it for anybody.
