The Sweet Hello

MYSPACE

Tanya: First of all, what is your name and what do you play in the band?
Sean: My name is Sean and I play drums in The Sweet Hello.
Michael: My name is Michael and I play guitar and synth in The Sweet Hello.

Tanya: How did The Sweet Hello form?
Michael: well it all started out when Jesse and I were in a previous band together and then Jesse dropped out and asked me to start this new project with him. Then I asked my two friends to join, Sean that played the drums, and Jake that kind of played bass and sings. At first I didn't know that Jake could sing but I knew his family is very musically inclined. His brother is the lead singer in band called Melee, so I thought the talent might rub off onto him, and of course it did!
Sean: Ya mike and I were eating lunch one day at flame broiler and he told me he was starting a new project and needed a drummer, so I told him I played drums and he said "Oh YA! I forgot!!! DUH...come jam with us this weekend." So I did and the rest is history.

Tanya: Your first show as The Sweet Hello was recently, April 21 to be exact, Was it everything you thought it would be? What was going through your mind as you were about to take the stage for the first time?
Sean: We thought that that we wouldn't get a good turn out and people wouldn't be that into it, but when we saw how energetic the crowd us we fed off of the crowds energy and just played our hearts out. Everyone was so into the music so it helped us and made us more comfortable to play. The show at Hogue Barmichaels in New Port Beach California was our first legit show, before that we played at High School Battle of The Bands and just small gigs at some friends house.
Michael: Before the show I was nervous but not as nervous as some of the other guys because I have been playing shows for a while. Jesse I think was the most nervous because he gets shy on stage about his singing sometimes, which he is slowly improving at though.

Tanya: You guys are currently in the process of recording a CD; do you have a title for the CD yet? When can we expect it to be finished?
Sean: Right now were in the middle of recording our CD. We are recording and producing it by ourselves because one, we don't have any money and two; we have a lot of recording stuff. Before Michael and I were rookies to the recording business but when we got the hang of it we learned how to mix and do all the little things to make each track sound amazing. So far we have about 4 songs roughly finished and were going to have about 9-10 songs on the CD. The name of the CD is going to be "Play This Record Loud!"
Michael: The CD will probably be finished late June so be on the lookout for that we will post some songs on the way for streaming on our my space.

Tanya: How would you describe your music to someone who has never listened before?
Sean: Sex
Michael: .In your ear hole.
Sean: Yup makes you just want to get up and dance dance dance.

Tanya: Do you have any big plans to tour in `07? Michael: Right now we are just focusing on the CD, but towards the end of the recording process we are going to be booking a lot of shows in California. I don't think we are going out of the state this year but maybe next year we will venture out of Cali. Tanya: How is the music scene in California?
Michael: The music scene in California is out of control! There are so many bands that have such great talent from California, especially in Southern California. One big place for the music scene around where we live is a place called Chain Reaction. It is such a small venue but has a huge reputation. I have seen so many big name bands come out of that place such as Halifax, Thrice, and Saosin all had their starts at chain reaction.

Tanya: Ideally if you were headlining your first tour who would you want to be as the opening bands?
Sean: If The Sweet Hello were headlining a tour I think id want to play with Paramore, Saosin, and The Almost.

Tanya: Are your songs based on real life experiences or are they fictional?
Sean: Our songs are 99% written by Jesse he comes up with such unique lyrics and harmonies that go with the song perfectly. All of our songs are about girls and daily life situations. Are songs are very simple bet yet so complex the way they are structured makes us sound unique in my opinion.

Tanya: If the band had the chance to sign with any record label which one would you want it to be?
Sean: Probably Capitol Records or Fueled by Ramen, because a lot of good bands have come out of there.

Tanya: Finally, any last words?
Sean: We love all of our fans and family that support what we are trying to do, which is play our little hearts out for everyone and to get our music out there so people can relate to it.
Michael: WE LOVE YOU!!!! Guys!! Be on the lookout for our CD.
Sean: "Play This Record Loud!" oh ya and check us out on my space at www.myspace.com/thesweethello add us and tell us what you think we love to hear people's feedback
