Ice Nine Kills
Myspace

Brittany: Start off by telling us your names, when you joined and what you do in the band.
Spence: My name is Spence and I play guitar and Sing. Jeremy does the same. We started the band back in late 2000 just as i was starting high school. Grant plays drums and was added to the line up in late 2003. Our bass player Hobie is an old friend of mine from grade school, he joined the band back in late 2004.

Brittany: How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn't listened to you before?
Spence: We have sooooo many influences! from Metalcore bands to phantom of the opera.... I guess if I would have to describe us in only a few words I would say "aggressively melodic music"

Brittany: You guys just recently signed to Red Blue Records, tell us about that.
Spence: The guy who owns Red Blue, Mike Krilivsky, has been a good friend of ours for the last couple of years. We are really excited to be working with someone who shares the same drive, work ethic, and passion as we do.

Brittany: You also have a huge U.S tour coming up, give us some details about that.
Spence: We are just super excited to finally be doing this band full time! The longest we have ever been out on tour is 2 weeks, so this is a big and exciting new experience for us.

Brittany: Are there any shows, cities or venues in particular you are most excited to
Spence: I couldn’t just pick one....but I guess it's always been a dream of mine to play shows in California so I am super excited to do that.

Brittany: You just released a new album recently tell us about that and where people can pick it up.
Spence: We recorded this album from start to finish in my basement....it was a total DIY situation, and we are super proud of how it turned out, you can pick it up exclusively thru Smartpunk.com or ITUNES.

Brittany: You guys are a well known band yet you chose to stick to a smaller label from your hometown to sign to, is there a specific reason for that decision?
Spence: We have been approached by a number of labels in the past 2 years. The only thing that those companies did was "talk a good game." Mike and Red Blue are the first people we have encountered in this business that don’t seem like they are full of shit. Sadly most people in this industry are. It is for those reasons that we signed with Red Blue and we couldn’t be happier about the situation.

Brittany: Do you have any advice to give to other bands out there trying to break into the music scene?
Spence: You have to love the music you play, if you don't, no one else will. Practice, demo new songs ALL the time, play as many shows as you can, treat your fans like gold, and promote the hell out of your band on the internet. If you have good music people will take notice trust me.

Brittany: What do you think about how big myspace and purevolume have become in the music business?
Spence: Those sites are amazingly helpful in marketing your music. It has completely leveled the playing field between small bands and huge bands on big labels.

Brittany: Any last words for your fans and everyone checking you guys out?
Spence: Thank you to anyone who supports our band, we truly appreciate every single fan we have. We can't wait to meet u on tour!
