Frizzo
MYSPACE Amber: For those who have never heard of you, describe you and your music. Frizzo: My name is Frizzo and I make West Coast influenced gangster rap right out of the East Detroit area. Amber: Out of all the songs you've performed or written, which is your favorite and why? Frizzo: I have an affinity for 586 313. I feel that my lyricism on that one is insane and the beat had me on one for days. Amber: What do you think makes you stand out from everyone else? Frizzo: I can write about whatever I want to rap about, whenever I want to. I make my own beats and I record and perform all my material on my own so I'm not dependent on an outside producer or engineer to help me with my creativity. Amber: Do you have any quotes to live by? Frizzo: I have a few but I appreciated when Vincent Van Gogh said that if someone tells you that you can't paint, and then by all means paint. Amber: What is the best compliment someone has given you about your music? Frizzo: Hmm, I think that the best compliment I can get is when someone tells me that my music is great. I kept on hearing that my music was good and I just kept waiting for someone to tell me it was great and when I finally heard it, I felt validated. Amber : Have you had any crazy fan experiences? Frizzo: Not too many. The craziest fan experience that I've had at this point in my career is someone asking for an autograph. I have had a few stalker groupies online who don't get the point when I tell them I'm not trying to mess with them and they send me hate mail when they used to send me love mail, but that's about the extent of it. Frizzo: But it just bugs me out when people ask for an autograph. Amber: How come? Frizzo: I don't know, I just don't understand idolatry. I don't think I'd even ask Michael Jackson for an autograph so it bugs me out when people ask me for my autograph. I'm hella flattered and it's cool, but it's just a weird feeling. Amber: What's the best concert you have ever been to? Frizzo: I'm not big on concerts. I remember when I was 16 I went to ticketmaster to get tickets to see Rage Against The Machine at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Mi and that was the same time they broke up and the concert never happened, but I'm sure if it would have happened then that would have been the dopest concert. But I really can't think of any other acts that I've seen that have really moved me. Amber: Do you have any hidden talents? Frizzo: I can do graffiti art pretty good Amber: What's one thing your really bad at? Frizzo: Relaxing and counting to ten Frizzo: I take things really personal too often Amber: bad temper? Frizzo: Yeah, I get myself into a lot of trouble with it Frizzo: I've been in court ordered anger management three times Amber: Don’t those classes just make u even madder sometimes? Frizzo: Hell yeah, you get stuck in there with a bunch of wife beaters and puppy kickers who just cry about life and the counselor is always a psychological manipulating bitch. Frizzo: Plus they make you pay hella fees. Amber: How long does it usually take you to write a song? Frizzo: As long as I want. I can write a song in one sitting, 45 minutes Or I can write one verse at a time and come back to it and complete it another day. So it just depends on how inspired I am at the time. Amber : Who are some of your main influences? Frizzo: When I was younger I was a Rage Against the Machine fiend but all my homies around me were listening to C-Bo, Brotha Lynch Hung, and E-40 at a time when mainstream rap couldn't reach me. I eventually became a rap addict and today some of my favorite rappers are Ice-T because he was a gangster originator, Too $hort because his style is timeless to me, X-Raided because I can hear his pain in his raps and Brotha Lynch Hung for spittin that sick shit. I love so much old school Westcoast Gangster shit. Frizzo: It's what I grew up on. Amber: Let's say you’re playing a show, how do fans stand out while you're performing? Frizzo: Show me your tits! Haha Amber: I’m sure a lot of girls would too Frizzo: Yeah, why not? right? Frizzo: Come to my show and feel free to let loose Amber: Do you have any tattoos? Frizzo: Yeah. I have two. I have an I on my right wrist for "Inland" and an E on my left wrist for "Empire". I got them in jail by a hillbilly with no teeth armed with only a pencil and staple. That's how we that in jail. Frizzo: It only cost me some peanut butter. Amber: If you could get another one that would symbolize your life what would it be, and why? Frizzo: Madonna with child and my mother's name underneath. I think there's no image more beautiful than Mary with baby Jesus. I dig that. Frizzo: Madonna as in Mary not the pop hoe. Amber: If you could, what would you change about the music industry? Frizzo: I'd kill RnB Rappers who make love songs just to get radio play and then I'd kill all the wack producers who put no effort into the songs that hit the Top Ten just because their songs get played 1000,000 times a day because some record exec is paying for play. Frizzo: the industry is so twisted. It’s all money and commerce and no art, Bring back that gangster shit! Amber: When all is said and done, what do you want to be remembered for? Frizzo: I just want to be remembered as an individual that earned a spot in the world, just because your on planet earth doesn't mean you deserve to be. So I'm gonna do somethin'. |
