Evident Earth MYSPACE Tanya: First of all, for the readers who may be unfamiliar with Evident Earth why don’t you tell us a little about yourselves and the band and what it is you play in the band? Evident Earth: Alex (bass) and Sean (guitar) are actually brothers and have been playing together for quite some time. Ryan (drums) and Sean had already been working with a previous project and decided to start something new. In late 2006, Alex asked me (Joel) to sing for the band, and here we are. We've now been playing all over the local circuit with plans of touring the west coast this year after our EP release this summer. We feel that we're just starting to gain momentum here in AZ and believe that this EP release will be huge for us. Tanya: Have you already recorded the EP? Evident Earth: Actually we're scheduled to record in mid-May with Ryan Baker. He has worked with such bands as RX Bandits, The Sound of Animals Fighting and more Tanya: How would you describe your music? Evident Earth: It’s hard to encompass all of the genres that we pull from. We've heard people say that we have similar vibes to bands like Incubus, TV on The Radio, Radiohead and The Police. We're constantly getting different feedback as we grow into our sound. Tanya: What is your favorite song to perform live? Evident Earth: Sean and Alex like "Doublespeak" and I like "Strangers". Ryan likes "Shifting of Guards"....we all have our favorites and they change all the time. Tanya: If you could describe the band in five words what would they be? Evident Earth: Every Good Boy Does Fine Tanya: Ideally if you were headlining your first tour who would you want as the openers? Evident Earth: Well...two of the bands we would love to play with are Mute Math and JOSH GROBAN! Tanya: josh groban.. Really?! Evident Earth: His operatic stylings are to die for...haha...no seriously Tanya: Are you guys all still in high school? Evident Earth: Alex (Junior) and myself (Senior) are still at a performing arts high school. Sean and Ryan are both undergrads in college Tanya: Do you find it hard to juggle both school and the band? Evident Earth: It has its benefits for promotional purposes considering we're surrounded by our demographic. We would love to be able to make music a full-time gig. Let's just say that we all stay very busy. Tanya: How much of an impact do you think my space has had/will have on your fan base? Evident Earth: So far it has helped us get some really great shows and connections. Once the EP is released, we plan to take advantage of My space...you know...buy it a few drinks...get it drunk...and see where it goes from there. Tanya: ha-ha yeah... maybe turns the night into an early morning ;-) Evident Earth: you said it! Tanya: How does someone in the crowd stand out to you; how do you remember your fans? Evident Earth: The fans that lock eyes with you definitely make an impression. We've made an amazing connection with our fans and try to meet as many of them as possible. Tanya: eye sex! When you lock eyes with the fans Evident Earth: I like it...and I want more of it Tanya: do you have any pre-show rituals? Evident Earth: We call it the "Thunder Cat Cuddle"...we basically huddle and scream "THUNDER CATS"...backstage of course. There is no reason for this. And then we jump to shake out the nerves. Tanya: Have you had any embarrassing moments on stage yet? Evident Earth: Sean once fell off of a drum platform.... (You had to be there). Recently while crowd surfing I kicked some girl square in the face. Sorry to whom ever that was. Also, it seems to be a ritual for me to knock over my only bottle of water within the first two songs. Tanya: What’s your Take on the bands out there who say things like “This meet and greet is lame, when is it over” and complain about spending time with the fans? Evident Earth: We personally love hanging out with our fans. This whole thing would not be fun without them. We get great feedback, support and love from all of our fans. Any band that does not hang out with their fans is missing out. Tanya: What would you say to people who base their music career on looks? Evident Earth: They have an advantage on us, ha-ha. We all agree that the quality of the music is the most important aspect, but in this industry, looks can overshadow talent. Tanya: Where do you see the band in 5... 10 years? Evident Earth: Japan hahaha....hopefully by that point we'll have a few albums released and be able to see the world. Tanya: were almost done but were going to do a little thing to end this interview called this or that. Tanya: Sun or Rain? Evident Earth: rain Tanya: Black and white or colored pics? Evident Earth: colored Tanya: Tackle or Touch? Evident Earth: tackle, hard Tanya: party like a rock star or party like its 1999? Evident Earth: like a rock star from 1999 Tanya: Blondes or Brunettes? Evident Earth: Brunettes, Blondes are good too Tanya: Pepsi or coke? Evident Earth: coke Tanya: Holding hands or kissing? Evident Earth: kissing Tanya: Fun houses or haunted houses? Evident Earth: Fun houses Evident Earth: quick...chicken or ribs? Tanya: chicken Evident Earth: nice Tanya: Famous or Almost famous? Evident Earth: Elton John Famous Tanya: Broken heart or Heart breaker(s)? Evident Earth: Heart breakers Tanya: The lion king or Fox and the hound? Evident Earth: Fox and the Hound Tanya: Lemonade or Ice Tea? Evident Earth: Arnold Palmer Tanya: New York or Boston? Evident Earth: New York ....Sean and Alex are from there. Evident Earth: but the city of Boston is amazing. Tanya: Any final words? Evident Earth: We just hope that everyone checks out our EP when it's released in June, “Drink light and eat hearty...for tonight we dine in HELL!!" That’s from 300. |
