![]() Divided By Friday Myspace Brittany: Start off by telling us about yourself and what you do in the band. Jose: I'm Jose, I'm the lead singer of the band and I also play guitar. I'm 16 and I've been involved in music since I was around 12 years old. I write most of our stuff, but Matt and I collaborate on a lot of music as well. Brittany: When and how did the band form? Jose: When I first got the idea of wanting to start a band the first person I talked to was Matt. I knew he was really into music as well and thought that we could do some cool stuff together. That was back when I was around 12. We first started talking about it when we were in the 7th grade, but didn't really get serious until the summer before we started 9th grade. I brought our drummer, JP into the band because we had gone to the same church since we were about 5 and we were already pretty close. Matt brought Chris in as the bass player at around the same time. Brittany: How would you describe the band's sound to someone who hasn't heard you before? Jose: This is a really hard question just because we have so many different musically influences that it's hard to pin point just one facet of our "style" I guess you'd say. As far as music goes I guess you could say we sound somewhat like Anberlin just because we have really poppy songs, but we also have harder hitting and more intense songs. Vocally, it’s hard to say, but maybe Sonny Moore-ish meets maybe Armor For Sleep and Relient K? haha...im not sure. We love bands ranging from Relient K to Underoath, so it's really hard to try and convey our sound. Brittany: What are some of your dream venues or cities to play? Jose: Hmmm, I'm not really sure. We all just love playing if it’s a house show our at a venue while on tour. As long as we have room to move around and decent sound equipment to work with, we're happy. Brittany: If you could put together a tour with some of your favorite bands, who would be on it with you? Oh my. I'd have to say Underoath, Chiodos, Relient K, Armor for sleep, We the kings and August Burns Red? Brittany: What song do you think gets the best crowd response? Jose: Well we've been playing Falling Downs hard for a while, so a lot of our fans know that song, but kids seem to be loving So Long Utah as of recent. They also seem to really like our cover of T-Pains, "Buy You A Drank". Brittany: Are there any shows that stand out to you so far? Jose: The day we played warped tour was pretty awesome. We met a lot of really rad people and just had an awesome time in general. It was a really great day. Brittany: You guys are working on a CD right now, how is that coming along so far? Jose: It's going great actually. We've finished up pretty much all the instrumentation and we're working on vocals now. We should be able to finish that up by the end of this month and start to add in extra things like violin and cello. Hopefully we'll be able to have it released by mid February or early march at the latest. Brittany: What are your plans once the CD is released? Jose: We actually plan on releasing it a few weeks before our spring tour, so as soon as its out we're just going to start playing lots of shows all over the place. Be sure to keep an eye on our tour schedule and see if we're coming any where near you!! Brittany: If you could change anything about the music industry what would you choose? Jose: If I could change one thing it'd probably be the whole "who you know" deal. I feel like a lot of the time how far a band gets in their career depends too much on what connections they have and not enough on how good their music is. There are tons of great bands that will never get far in music just because they don't know that many people who are successful in the industry. I just wish that it were easier for hard working bands that make great music to get noticed. Brittany: Any last words for your fans and everyone reading this? Jose: I'd just like to say that we absolutely adore you and that we appreciate your support SO much. If it weren't for you guys we wouldn't be able to keep going. Just keep in mind that we love you, God loves you and you mean the world to us! |
