Curtis Peoples![]() MYSPACE Tanya: For those who don't know much about you, tell them who you are and how you got started? Curtis: All right, name's Curtis Peoples, I'm from San Diego , CA ...I've been playing music since I was 12, had a band for about 8 years or so called 3 Simple Words, and then been doing the solo thing for about 3 years... Tanya: What was the first song you ever wrote? Curtis: I wrote a couple funny ones, but the first real song I wrote was called "Legend", it was about me wanting to meet and perform with my music idols Tanya: aww Curtis: Aww indeed Tanya: What was the first concert you have ever gone to? Curtis: The Rolling Stones with Lenny Kravitz opening saw them in Michigan with my uncle. Tanya: ah that must have been an amazing concert. Curtis: It was a pretty wild introduction to concerts... Tanya: Do you think my space is a big help with getting your name out there? Curtis: Yea, it's an amazing networking tool, it's a monster that can't be denied, I've made some great contacts that way and it's really allowed to communicate with fans on another level Tanya: speaking of fans, you have a pretty big fan base; how do you keep up with all of it? Curtis: It's my job to do so, and I love it, I'm so grateful that anyone cares what I do, so I work hard to make sure they know I appreciate that Tanya: How do you remember your fans; what makes someone stand out in the crowd? Curtis: Haha, everyone's got something memorable about them, I love people who aren't afraid to move their asses a little during the show, I always remember those people. Tanya: How you pick out your album/CD names? Curtis: They just kind of come out of nowhere..."Whisper To A Scream" came out from the change in my life that occurred after the first time I went on tour with Tyler Hilton, things just really changed fast..."Rock Out!! And Stay a While" is just a fun title, it's a very "me" title, makes for some good puns. Tanya: What are your influences for your music? Curtis: Pearl Jam, The Beatles, John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Third Eye Blind, Michael Jackson, etc Tanya: Ideally if you were headlining a tour what bands and or artists would you want as the openers? Curtis: haha, right now I'm an opener, I'd love to tour with Ingram Hill, I love those guys and I think it'd be such a blast Tanya: What’s the nicest thing some fans have done for you? What's the craziest? Curtis: I've got a couple bracelets I really liked and cookies! But the support of promoting my shows and my music always means the most to me...And craziest, nothing comes to mind, so bring it on! Tanya: Have you had any embarrassing moments on stage yet? Curtis: I've fell pretty good a couple times, but the time someone gave me a shirt on stage and so I took off my shirt and exposed my white body that was fun to find on you tube the next day.... Tanya: What is the best compliment anyone could ever give you? Curtis: When people tell me they've played my CD to the point of wearing it out, means my music has some substance, that's what I'm aiming for, and it so great to see my record hit people the way music has always affected me... Tanya: When writing a song which comes first the music or the lyrics? Curtis: The melody is always first, lyrics are always last, just the way I roll :) Tanya: Where do you see yourself in 5, 10 years? Curtis: Playing arenas, Bon Jovi's gonna need a replacement soon in the big rock show department... Tanya: What is one thing you wish you could change about the music industry? Curtis: I wish people bought Cud’s more, I love iTunes, but I love the physical CD, the artwork, I don't think people care as much about that anymore, but, oh well, things change... Tanya: After everything is all said and done what do you want to be remembered for? Curtis: My songs, I want to end up on an oldies station Rain or Sun sun Black and White or Colored Pictures black and white (so hip) blondes or brunettes haha.... Brown or Blue Eyes blue eyes are mesmerizing, but as a man with brown eyes, I got to say we're pretty cool too Famous or Almost Famous I love that movie! Holding hands or kissing Kissing Lemonade or Ice Tea Green tea (option 3) Heartbreaker or Broken Heart ugh, neither thanks Haunted or Fun house fun house Love or Lust love Love songs or love letters love letters actually New York or Boston New York And last but not least Any Final Words..
