Carmen & Camille
Myspace

Brittany: Tell us a little about yourselves non-musically so we can get to know you better!
Camille: We are pretty normal…well…lol. I'm into fashion design, flamenco dancing, reading, cooking…lots of different things. I'm an artist and enjoy creating.
Carmen: We do like a lot of the same things but I'm a bit more into running, I like doing 10km runs. My goal is to do a marathon one day. I also like scrapbooking and reading.

Brittany: How long have you both been into music?
Carmen: Our whole lives, but we went to college after high school. After that is when we really started working on things together and in a professional sense.

Brittany: When did you form your band Carmen and Camille?
Camille: It was a few years ago. We started playing with other musicians at clubs and open mics. We started recording our demos and getting out there. We’ve just been building and building the past few years.

Brittany: You guys are from Canada, is the music scene any different than that of the U.S?
Carmen: Not really. There are a lot of similarities. The only difference I see is the fact that Canada really gets behind a lot of Indie acts that are off the beaten track. They support music that isn’t as commercial.

Brittany: Who are some of your major influences?
Camille: The people who we are my major inspirations are Sheryl Crow and Gwen Stefani, or No Doubt I should say. I like a lot of the classic rock bands like Heart, The Doors and Led Zeppelin. There are also great new bands like Muse, Flyleaf and Paramore that excite and inspire me.
Carmen: I agree. I love Gwen, she can do no wrong in my eyes. All the artists Camille mentioned we both love.

Brittany: If you could put together a U.S or Canadian tour who would you put on the tour?
Carmen: We would love to open for Maroon 5. They are a good blend of heavier and softer.

Brittany: What are some venues in the U.S you are dying to play someday?
Carmen: I’d love to play Madison Square Garden. I would know we have arrived if we are playing there.
Camille: The Grammy stage!!! That’s my ultimate dream.

Brittany: You guys just shot a music video for MTV in Arlington, MA tell us about that.
Camille: We met with MTV recently and they asked for live footage. The DVD will also be sold at shows and on our web site. What a great experience it was. MTV has been really supportive of us, playing our music on The Hills and choosing us for their virtual world Battle of the Bands.

Brittany: What can we expect from you guys in the near future?
Camille: We are looking into more touring, that’s something we want to do in the new year. We love performing live.
Carmen: We are working on new music always. Eventually we’ll be getting into the studio to record some new songs.

Brittany: Any last words for the people reading this?
Carmen: I would just say a huge thank you to the dozens and dozens of people who have helped us along the way. It would be a dream come true to thank everyone up stage at the Grammy’s. It would be a long speech though!
Camille: One stereotype we sometimes face is that because we are blonde twins people want to say we are manufactured or put together. For the record, we are musicians and writers and take our craft seriously. If I couldn’t perform or do this anymore I would be writing for people and in the business of music. It’s my passion and my purpose in life.
