Butch Walker MYSPACE Brittany: Start off by telling us a little about yourself and your band Butch Walker And The Lets Go Out Tonites. Butch: Well, I am a lowly singer-songwriter who loves to perform, so I take a revolving cast of friends, barflies, and all around fun people to be with, along with me for the ride. they are called TLGOTs.. Brittany: How did you decide you wanted to be a part of the music industry? Butch: I don't know if I like that word "industry".. it's gotten so gross.. when i was a kid, that word meant that maybe you were the owner of a cool record shop and you sold van halen tickets from scalpers to make your shop rent.. these days, there's too many gross, long-fingered, fake hair wearing, self-bloated ego-types running the show, that act like the music "industry" couldn't function without them.. when in fact, if they were all dead, the artists would have a lot less to worry about (like wether or not they needed a fucking reality TV show, or getting knocked up by a member of Good Charlotte to get a record deal). but.. that's just my take on it.. i'm sure i'm completely wrong.. Brittany: Being a producer and being on stage performing are two different worlds, do you prefer one over the other? Butch: No. I love to do both. It is a blessing to be able to go out for half the year and tour to fans all over the country, people giving you gifts, clothing company giving you cool clothes to wear, getting free mass-quantities of alcohol and almonds, and then come home and make records in your pajamas for the other half of it. Brittany: What are some of your favorite venues to play when touring? Butch: I really love all HOB. they seem to get it right, with all of the details, and my shows are always really good there. Brittany: You have released many cd's, is there one that really stands out to you or that you are most proud of? Butch: I think Letters for sure. Brittany: Your song Mixtape which is an older song was on the One Tree Hill Soundtrack a while back, how did you get involved with that? Butch: The guy who created the show, Joe Davola, saw me play live once and that was that. Brittany: You also make an appearance in The Academy Is new video, have you or will you ever take up acting? Butch: Judging by that performance, no. Brittany: What is the best advice you can give to someone reading this who wants to follow in your footsteps? Butch: Don't act in videos. Brittany: What are some things you wish you could change about the music business? Butch: Nothing. All the bad things that are happening to it right now are going to manifest into an amazing result.. it always does.. there will be a massive fallout and music will become as important as it needs to be because of it's own vapid state right now. There are some of the most amazing records, by the most amazing artists out right now than ever before! but you have to dig for them, because they are being sold on you. You have to search, but the talent pool is fucking through-the-roof right now. I think it's the best time ever in music.. Brittany: What can we expect from you and your band in the near future? Butch: I don't know.. I am not even thinking about a record right now, but maybe soon. Brittany: Any last words to your fans and readers? Butch: I love you. |
