As I Lay Dying MYSPACE Brittany: Tell us about yourself and how you joined the band. Jordan: Well, I've been playing drums for about 11 years now, and have been in the band since the beginning. Tim (singer) and I started the band in 2001. We both loved heavy music and knew that we wanted to tour and put out records, so we recorded our first full length and went on tour two months later. Brittany: Where did you guys get the name As I Lay Dying? Jordan: We actually saw the name on the back of Cliff's Notes and thought it sounded sweet haha! A lot of people ask if our name has anything to do with the meaning of the book, but it does not.. Brittany: You guys have been on warped tour for a while now, how has it been going for you? Jordan: Warped Tour was amazing! It was a little hot sometimes, but the shows were always good. One of the great things about Warped is the diverse line-up of bands, which means a diverse crowd. We were able to play in front of a lot of new people, which was sweet! There are not too many tours where we would have the pleasure of sharing the stage with bands like Bad Religion or Flogging Molly, but for some reason on that tour it works! I hope we get the opportunity to do it again. Brittany: What is your favorite stop for warped so far? Jordan: I know I'm a little biased because we are from there, but San Diego and L.A. were two of my favorite shows. But to be honest, all of the shows and crowds were amazing! Brittany: What is your favorite song to play live? Jordan: I'm not sure haha! I would have to say any song that would inspire our crowds to start a circle pit would be my favorite.. Brittany: What are some things you keep with you at all time when touring? Jordan: My artist pass! haha! (that's the little laminated pass we wear that's usually hanging from our pants for those who don't know) if I don't have that: I can't eat, get to our bus, or get on stage to play! You need it to get everywhere at the venue and you usually need it to get catering. If you don't have it, security won't give you any access at all. Brittany: Do you have any cities or venues you like playing on every tour? Jordan: There are so many great venues and cities in this world, so its hard to narrow it down to only a few. But, there is one venue called the Norva in Norfolk, which happens to have a jacuzzi in the dressing room! Its always sweet to have a piping hot jacuzzi waiting for you after your set! haha! Brittany: If you could put together a perfect tour who would be on it? Jordan: That's a tough one...I would love to tour with Pantera (RIP), but I know that's not possible. Every tour we've done has been great in one way or another. I'm just thankful for all the tours we've been able to do, and look forward to future tours. Brittany: What is in store for you guys when you are done with warped? Jordan: We are going to Europe to do a headline tour, then we go to Thailand and Japan, and back to the USA to do another headline tour. Brittany: What is one question you have always wanted to be asked in an interview but haven't yet? Jordan: hmm...I've been trying to think of one for the last 5 mins, but have come up with nothing! I guess that's why I'm not a journalist..haha! I guess I"m always more concerned about giving well thought out answers to the questions I'm given, as opposed to creating more questions for myself. Brittany: What is the best advice you can give about the music industry? Jordan: For those people who are involved, or get involved, in this industry, just remember that it's all about the fans and the music! It's amazing how many people in the music industry (musicians included!) forget that. Brittany: Any last words for the readers? Jordan: Thanks to everyone out there that has supported us over the years...We wouldn't be able to this with out all of you. |
