Action Squad

MYSPACE

Tanya: Why don’t we start off by you introducing yourself and what band it is you play in?
Clark: My name's Clark Starace (pronounced like the two simple words put together, STAR - ACE)....I sing and play guitar in Action Squad

Tanya: How did the band come together?
Clark: Well I've never been the singer or main songwriter in a band and one day I decided that I think I could lead a good band. I decided to record some songs I wrote with my friend Ethan Bill....he liked the songs and decided to join the band as the drummer.....and then after that we just got people by showing them the recording and asking them to learn their parts.

Tanya: What is your favorite song to perform live?
Clark: Action Squad has yet to play a show :-(....not cuz we're lame.....we've only been together for a month or so. We're still practicing songs so we can play good live

Tanya: When will Action Squads first show be?
Clark: April 24th we're going to play at Monmouth University ....it's like a talent show/battle of the bands kind of a thing.

Tanya: How would you describe the bands music?
Clark: FUN! Or I'd like to think so anyway.....When I started the band I wanted to write simple song that were very poppy.......and then spoon feed melodies to the masses like spoonfuls of sugar!

Tanya: What was the inspiration for the song your attention please?
Clark : hmmm....lately I've been having bad luck with girls........not that I can't get with girls, more that I can't keep them interested. I kind of just wanted to express a feeling of loneliness and wanting more attention than you’re getting. I decided to put the girl vocal part in at the end because I think girls probably feel the same way guys do with that stuff.

Tanya: Awe yeah for sure, what do you think separates your band from all the other new bands out there trying to make it?
Clark: I think it's kind of a unique back to basics kind of rock n roll sound. Very standard song structures......simple power chords......having guitar solos in the middle of the songs, etc. We're not trying to redefine the face of music....just get people to dig our catchy songs.

Tanya: How much of an impact do you think myspace has/ will have on your fan base?
Clark: That's a great question! I think my space will be crucial in helping us build a fan base. It's like all of a sudden every human on the planet has a myspace and it's just a really good way to get your name out there. I can only imagine how much my heroes, Motley Crue, would have liked to have such an easy way of showing people your music.

Tanya: If you could have written one song another band had what would it be?
Clark: Oh man, there's so many songs I wish I wrote.....I'm gonna have to either "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue or "Basket Case" by Green Day......of course I have to say songs that are big hits ha-ha. I would have liked to say some really artsy song with clever lyrics....but I think I'd rather just have written one of the most famous songs in rock history.

Tanya: Do you guys have any plans to record an EP anytime soon?
Clark: Well our drummer has a professional studio in his basement, so it's really easy for us to get in a studio and pump out some sweet sounding jams, so an EP could be self-released by the summer for sure.....although, I'd also kind of like to see if we can create enough of a buzz to get some kind of label to release and EP.

Tanya: Ideally what label would you want to be signed to?
Clark: Well, I'd LIKE to be signed to a major label and have them ACTUALLY releases a record for us. However, I realize that's pretty much impossible.....so I'd like to get picked up by an Indie label like Drive-Thru, Doghouse, or Fueled by Ramen

Tanya: What do you think about the bands who base their careers on their looks rather than their music?
Clark: Ha-ha, you might be asking the wrong person this question.....like I said, I'm a big fan of Motley Crue....so I personally believe that image is a big part of the whole deal......but let's get real, the music is what it's all about........I think if a band can play great songs and look good while doing it, more power to them.

Tanya: What’s your dream venue to sell out?
Clark: Giant Stadium....we're from Jersey, and that's definitely the biggest venue in the dirty jerzzz.....It's also where I saw Green Day for the ony l time (so far), so it'd be fuckin gnarly if such a thing happened

Tanya: sex, drugs or Rock and Roll?
Clark: yes please....I’ll take them all

Tanya: Rain or Sun?
Clark: Sun.....I'm not really a dark and dreary guy

Tanya: Party like a Rock Star or Party like its 1999?
Clark: ROCK STAR OBVIOUSLY.....fuck 1999, I was 12

Tanya: ice tea or lemonade?
Clark: lemonade....yellow lemonade

Tanya: tackle or touch?
Clark: hmm....I think I’d like either if we're talking about a boy/girl game......but I’m kind of skinny and weak, so touch if its with some serious jocks

Tanya: Famous or almost famous?
Clark: Famoussssss

Tanya: Blondes or Brunettes?
Clark: Doesn’t matter.....I have a crush on EVERY girl!!!!
Tanya: ha-ha every girl? how does that work exactly
Clark: It's a curse, it really is....but I can find something I love about every girl, I swear

Tanya: Summer or Fall
Clark: SUMMER, no schooooool

Tanya: Holding hands or kissing?
Clark: Oh baby are you kidding? KISSING.....although sometimes it almost feels like holding hands means more ya know? But whatever, kissing

Tanya: Late nights or early mornings?
Clark: LATE NIGHT PARTIES FOREVER.....although I can wake up early in the morning and be ready to go....I rarely sleep and am almost never tired

Tanya: Fun house or haunted house
Clark: FUN HOUSE...I'm all about FUN

Tanya: Plane or Car
Clark: Planes are cool, I've only been on a few in my life but I think they’re cool

Tanya: chocolate or vanilla?
Clark: vanilla, I've always liked it more

Tanya: any last words?
Clark: Thank you for the interview and I hope people that read it like my band!!!!
