I love the Goo Goo Dolls. I bought tickets to this concert for what was then my girlfriend for Christmas, who was soon to become my EX; you know how it goes. We broke up 1 week after Christmas. I kept the tickets. Like I said, I love the Dolls.
Kelsey, a friend, and myself set out on our trip to our 3 hour destination. Given my background of speeding tickets, we got there just around 2 hours. Little Rock is a pretty fair sized city. And Elton John is straighter than most of the roads and streets that run through it. We hit up the mall, and ate at the Olive Garden. Took us about an hour to actually get on the correct part of the city where the venue was at, because we had no city map, and neither of us had ever driven there.
We toured downtime Little Rock for a few hours. Stopped by the front doors of the Clinton Library. Then, we somehow ended up at a store called "Twisted" run by 3 men that were all bald but somehow managed to keep their pony tails. I sat in a chair shaped like lips.
We decided to head over to the Robinson Auditorium where the Concert was being held. We were about 3 hours early. No one was there, except these little girls waiting at the box office, which didn't open for a few hours. Kelsey looks over at me, "STOP! What was that...?" "I think thats music. They are rehearsing!", I said with the excitement of an eleven year old girl at a birthday party.
We both took off sprinting across the building listening until we got warmer. We heard singing, drums, guitars get louder and louder as we went. The music finanly brought us to an upper area of the building where we snug around a very old security guard. A huge dark green box was to our right with a sign on it that said, "Goo Goo Dolls Catering". We kept walking and came upon the actual food for the 'Dolls'. There were people around putting food in things, and setting stuff up. Me and Kelsey was hiding behind a big pillar in the side corner of the room. Suddenly, a grape is thrown accross the room and lands beside Kelsey. We thought we had been caught. But it turns out someone was just trying throw it into a garbage can. We waited a few minutes, and everyone just left. Kelsey and I were alone with the 'Dolls' food. We came out of hiding, and approached a doorway that read, "Goo Goo Dolls Dressing Room". Jackpot.
Was it this simple? We started to slowly, very very slowly walk up a spiral staircase. A guy started coming down the stairs and we freaked out.
"JUST ACT NORMAL!" I hissed at Kelsey. "Put away your camera!" A guy walked past us on the spiral staircase with a pass around his neck, and didn't pay us any notice. So we continued. And there it was. It was like it was glowing. We finished climbing the stairs, and we saw the dressing room. I was practically laying down at the top of the stairs, peering around a corner trying to get a good picture. We got up, walked in and saw a man sitting at a table. So we tip toed behind him and into another doorway which led us back stage. Oh yes my kiddies, we ended up backstage where we saw lots of equipment, dozens of guitars, and a few keyboards (the one Augustana uses on "Boston"). We stood there in amazement. We both watched a few people practice a some guitars and someone else was messing with the light arrangements, and testing the beats and lights. "Can we help you?" a guy says walking toward us. "We were just hoping to meet the band, if thats cool?" I responded with my tongue hanging out. "Yea dude, i dont think so, you guys need to get out of hear." He said this while moving me toward the door with his hands.

----- Augustana opened for the 'Dolls', and they were amazing. We just walked right up to the stage while the bands were performing. Augustana has several great songs, and they are wonderful live. And when they finally played 'Boston', the crowd went insane.
The Goo Goo Dolls started about 30 minutes after Augustana's set. They played all the classics that had made them famous. "Slide", "Iris", "Black Balloon", & "Broadway" were spectacular. There were a few songs that the bass player sang lead on, which terriffied me. This guy was really strange. He would get close to the edge of the stage while playing, and people would lean away. He also sounded like he had been on tour with 'Alvin and the Chipmonks'. They played several songs I hadn't ever heard, and instantly fell in love with.
At one point during the concert, John, the lead singer, leans down and picks up a poser someone is waving. The poster says, "Its my birthday! Make it one I will never forget!" John responds, "Special Eh? I could take you out back and just kick your ass I spose". It was hilarious, and he then went into a spill about how he made his girlfriend buy him beer when she turned 21. At the end of the performance, they came back out for an encore, in which they whipped out some great songs.
As everyone was leaving, I walked past a merch stand were I saw two members from Augustana standing their. I walked up and had them sign my cd, and they took a picture with us. They were very nice, and totally just there for the fans.
At the merch stand, the 'Dolls' apparel and CD's were very highly priced. They had a hoodie for $60. I ended up buying 2 t-shirts, and 3 cd's which came to a little over $100. I go crazy at merch stands after a concert.

----- We left the Robinson Center Auditorium and made our way through Little Rock trying to take all the right exits. I was driving along totally pumped from the concert when I finally realized we were driving in the wrong direction. We had driven 20 miles outside Little Rock toward Memphis, Tennessee. I get turned back around, get back into Little Rock, and about a block from the Auditorium Kelsey and I are discussing how she fed the 'Dolls' grapes (we were acting stupid), and she screams "JIM!" just before I smash into a 2007 Eclipse. Nobody was hurt, and hardly any damage done. The only whitness was a homeless man who was picking up cans, and he ran away. We waited for the cops, and took about an hour exchanging information. The guy was very nice. I said it was all his fault. He said it was all mine. Our insurance companies are still battling about whose fault it was.
Long story short, we get lost 2 more times after the wreck. I don't get home till 5am and then get up for school just a few hours later. We had a GREAT time, and I would totally go see them again in concert.
