January 20, 2008 – Cobra Starship – Middle East – Cambridge, MA
People in attendance: Jamie C

The Really, Really, Ridiculously Good Looking tour consisted of 4 bands: the headliner, Cobra Starship and three supporting acts, The Cab, We the Kings and Metro Station. This tour has been extremely well received across the United States and Canada, especially because Cobra Starship has declared that this tour will be their last small venue tour for quite sometime.

First in the line up was The Cab. They took the stage with such excitement and had many fans rocking along to each of their songs. It was interesting to see that the bar section (which was blocked off for only 21+) was very into The Cab's music, singing along to every song and holding onto every last beat. The crowd erupted throughout each song.

Next up was We the Kings, a band who recently had a song on One Tree Hill. Once again the crowd of anxious teenagers and twenty-somethings latched on to each song with such excitement and for the most part, everyone I noticed sang along to every word.

The last supporting act was Metro Station. This was my first time seeing this band, in fact it was the first I had ever heard of them. They totally won me over with this show. The two singers, Trace and Mason, were so energetic and really probed the crowd for involvement. Towards the end of their set, the audience was getting more and more excited as the time neared when Cobra Starship would hit the stage.

Headliner Cobra Starship started their show off by coming onto the stage to "This is Why I'm Hot" and the stage was very florescent and reminiscent of the 80's. They began the show with their newest single, "The City Is at War" and continued to rattle off many of their hits, including "The Church of Hot Addiction" and "Send My Love to the Dancefloor, I'll See You in Hell (Hey Mister DJ)" both off of their freshman album "While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets."

The crowd was in uproar as the band sang their biggest hit, "Bring It On" which is featured in the movie "Snakes on a Plane." After much crowd demand, Gabe Saporta, Cobra Starship's lead singer, treated the audience to his rendition of Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" which he entitled "Hollaback Boy." Also, the crowd pleaded with the band to perform "Pleasure Ryland" a track they rarely play while on tour. Cobra Starship once again treated the audience to hear this hit.

Throughout the entire performance, Cobra Starship was extremely personable and interacted with the crowd more than any other band I have seen before. January 20th just happened to be Cobra's keytarist VickyT-'s birthday and one year anniversary being in the band. Also Gabe brought out his beloved cardboard cut out of Derek Zoolander.

All in all, this show at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA was one of the most enjoyable concerts I have attended in a long time. All four of the acts were very energetic. The Middle East was a perfect venue choice for this show; in fact, they needed to add a second show because there was so much interest in seeing these bands at this venue.

I recommend you check out the music of each of these bands.
