Buddy Jewell ![]() Performer: Buddy Jewell Best Known for his hits, "Sweet Southern Comfort", and "Help Pour Out the Rain". He won the 'Nashville Star' in 2003. His first album debut #1 and earned him a gold record. Where: West Plains Civic Center, Mo The station I work for gave me three free tickets, and I went with my friends. We took off a few hours as we made our way across the Arkansas border into the 'Show me State'. We marked a milestone around 4:30. We was blazing at speeds well above the speed limit, which prompted the cop to pull us over. I wasn't even surprised, this was my tenth time to get pulled over. The policeman checked my record, and noticed the other speeding tickets, which caused him to have sympathy for my high insurance premiums. "Thank you so much!" I told the cop. "Can I do anything for you? I can get you tickets to the concert tonight." "No. That's bribery and it will land you in jail," the cop responded. "Bribery, no. It's kindness." He didn't take the tickets, and I didn't get a ticket, so we were all better off. The concert was a benefit for the cystic fibrosis foundation. Some inside information says that they couldn't find Buddy a few minutes before the concert...chuggin back on grandpa's old cough medicine was the speculation. Jewell is a natural performer, and a national talent. He sounds exactly as he would on an album, and even better in person. Throughout the entire performance he was throwing things at the audience. He threw out several guitar picks, and whipped out a new one each time which was attached to his mic stand. After the concert I bought a cd and a glamor shot photo and he autographed them. As he was signing my things, I said "I hope I don't give you carpal tunnel," and he laughed. He signed a bunch of stuff i laid on the table, which I wasn't even expecting him to sign. I also took a picture with him, of me leaning across the table. I told him I hoped I didn't break the table from me sitting on it. He responded, "Oh man, I've had bigger people than you lean on this table." |
