Riptides I recall mentioning last October that I could not wait to hear the upcoming efforts from South Shore's rock quintet Raleigh. The wait is finally over… Raleigh releases their debut EP entitled Karma in August. Overall, Karma is a masterpiece. Raleigh displays more character and strength in this single EP than most artists show in a career. Spanning six tracks in just under a half hour, Karma highlights nearly every aspect of the band's flavor, without replicating an exact sound more than once across the album. From the galloping intro that opens "Man Your Weapons" to the epic symphony closing of "Riptides" and all the catchy guitars riffs, beats and wholesome group vocals in between, I guarantee, you'll be hooked. Finally, the best part? Karma lacks the ever prevalent sound of an auto-tuner that can often be found hiding beneath the surface in most other pop punk recording sessions. The question is, will Raleigh succumb to the infamous "sophomore slump"? I doubt it. |
